Aside: a remark or passage by a character in a play that is intended to be heard by the audience but unheard by the other characters in the play.

Monologue: a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or as part of a theatrical or broadcast program.

Soliloquy: an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself.

Chorus: a group of characters in Greek tragedy (and in later forms of drama), who comment on the action of a play without participation in it.

Comic Relief: comic episodes in a dramatic or literary work that offset more serious sections.

After reviewing these terms in preparation for our study of Othello, you will have time to have a discussion about your novels, work on journal entries DUE MONDAY, and read.
