Please take some time to read Defining Style.

The types of sentences you choose to use in your writing are part of your writing style. We will spend a little time looking at sentence types because I want to ensure that you can use a variety, and that you punctuate them properly. Here's a very helpful list along with punctuation rules. It works well with the information in the video that follows. I think that I'm related to the lovely lady below. I couldn't have done it better myself.
It's time for the quiz. Please share your scores with me.
Take a second look at your expository paragraph. Have you followed the rules for punctuating different types of sentences? Make corrections to your paragraph if needed.
What sentence types did you use? Did you use one sentence type more than another? Post your observations on your blog. Title: My Writing Style.
Below is my attempt at the expository paragraph. What style do you think I have adopted? Formal? Informal? What would you say about my word choice? Following the paragraph, I have listed the sentence types I used as I want you to do in your blog about your paragraph. Please copy and paste your paragraph into your blog before you do this. I did not deliberately use certain sentence types as I wrote. Are you surprised by what you discovered? Why or why not?
Although I was reluctant to purchase an iPhone, I soon learned to love it. In fact, it has become an indispensable tool in helping me improve my physical health. For cardiovascular health, my C210K app gets me off the couch three times a week as I train to run 10 kilometers, gradually increasing my speed and distance over time. If I am looking for a less intense cardio session, I can take a dance class using my Zumba app. Strength and flexibility are also important to physical health; I am easily able to find a variety of strength training and stretching or yoga classes online. Right now, with the help of Youtube, I am using my foam roller to release tight muscles: a sometimes painful, but always beneficial, activity. No matter how active I am, I know that I can't outrun my fork. Proper nutrition is essential. Using my iPhone I can read online articles, search for healthy recipes, and create shopping lists. I can even monitor my diet (including calories and nutrition) and track my weight. Thanks to my phone, I always have a virtual trainer and a nutritionist in my pocket.
